Summer break is quickly coming to an end in our house and the transition back to school and fall sports will start with flag football tryouts tomorrow.  I’m not really ready to let go of beach & pool days or the days we all agreed to do a whole lot of nothing.  So I’m going to squeeze some extra summer fun into the time we have left, starting with a very sweet surprise- S’mores!  Starting around Memorial Day, you’ll notice end cap and stand alone displays at the grocery store with all the go-to s’more making essentials: Marshmallows, Hershey Chocolate Bars and Graham Crackers.  I take the kids shopping with me and they’ve been good at keeping our supply well stocked.

S’mores are delicious made with marshmallows directly toasted by a camp fire.  We always made them at beach bonfires when I was a kid.  But, I’m in California and burning sugar lumps flying around my yard just isn’t gonna cut it during fire season.  So I’m going to let you in on the easiest S’more recipe that is good year round and made right in your own oven.  The first time I made these was for a work event and I was able to make over 100 in about 30 minutes, all individually wrapped in precut tinfoil.  They were a huge hit at the company event and are often requested by my boys.  I hope you’ll give them a try!  What’s your favorite summer dessert?

Oven S’mores


  • 1 #oz Hershey’s Chocolate Bar
  • 4 Large Marshmallows
  • 4 Graham Crackers


Preheat Oven to 350 degrees F

Gently break the 4 Graham Crackers in half to make 8 pieces

Place 4 pieces of Graham Cracker on a baking sheet

Break Chocolate Bar into 4 pieces (2 sections/piece)

Place a piec of Chocolate ontop of each piece of Graham Cracker

Place a Marshmallow ontop of each piece of chocolate

Put baking sheet in oven for approx 5 minutes.  Marshmallow should be golden brown (time could vary depending on your oven)

Take them out of the oven and top with the remaining 4 pieces of Graham Cracker

Want to give you S’mores a little something extra?  Try one of the ideas below:

  • Peanut Butter fan: Spread Peanut Butter on the Graham Cracker before placing the chocolate on
  • Who loves Mexican Hot Chocolate (me, it’s me, I do): Sprinkle Cinnamon or a Cinnamon Sugar mix between the chocolate and marshmallow
  • Want an extra crunch: Use a Hershey’s Almond Chocolate Bar
